Children roam wildly on fields across the country, chasing a ball or sometimes the butterflies.

Scissor kicks practiced on children's beds around the world (adults too..they just don't admit it).

Recreational players play ohhh so serious - for the passion of the game. 

There are irritating fans: "U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!"

The children hold hands with each player, in adoration, as they walk onto the field together.

National anthems play. Hands cover hearts. 

Fans and players alike, always out of tune, proudly sing like they have never sung before.   

Chants and odes to teams fill stadiums as flags wave.

Men and women paint themselves their national colors and cry openly at defeat.

An announcer shouts "GOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL! GOL, GOL, GOL!" on the Spanish-language channel you're watching. (It's often the only way you can see the game live.)

A Slovakian salesman, an Italian police officer, a Canadian fireman or a German concert pianist—all having passed the official fitness tests -moonlight as referees - for the love of the game.

Two back-to-back 45-minute segments without commercials - need we say more?

Babies get rocked to sleep at touch lines.

Human planes fly towards screaming fans.

And prayers are answered at corner flags,

Ready for the excitement of flying flanks, overlapping backs, curling corners and slippery give go's at the top of the box?
