The Kitchener Spirit under-15 boys A soccer capped off a strong season with a silver-medal finish at the Ontario Summer Games provincial championship tournament in Ottawa. The Spirit lost to the Mississauga Falcons in a hotly contested final, surrendering two late goals in a 2-0 decision. To reach the final, the Spirit defeated teams from North York, Ottawa and Ajax. The Spirit, who compete in the highly rated Ontario Youth Soccer League, where they are ranked fourth, have enjoyed an excellent season. In May, the Spirit were finalists in a tournament in Niagara. In July, they travelled to Spain to participate in the Valencia Cup, finishing fourth overall. And earlier this month, they won the Kitchener International Tournament, going unbeaten to capture the gold. The team is coached by Henri Gomes, Aydin Sokmez and Tony Fernandes.
